- (continued from previous page)their moulds ready on the table. When sufficiently melted the liquid fat was poured into the moulds and then left to cool. Next they put the wick up through the middle of the candle. It was made of cotton threads wound around to form a cord. Then the moulds were again heated and the candles taken out ready for use. Told to Fanny McInerney by her father Morgan McInerney, aged 54 years. Farmer, who has in his possession a candle-mould (similar to sketch) of about 100 years old.
