  1. Once upon a time there were three men, an Irishman, an Englishman and a Scotchman. They were going along the road one day and they went into a house where they asked for tea. They were very fond of meat and the woman had no meat prepared for them. She said the one who would have the best dream in the morning she would give them a duck she had killed.
    So the Scotchman and Englishman went in the one bed to make up the dream, but the Irishman kept awake and watching the woman putting away the duck in a press. In the morning they related their dreams to the woman, the Scotchman dreamt that he went to heaven in a chariot and the Englishman dreamt he was crowned King, but the Irishman dreamt he had eaten the duck. In the middle of the night the Irishman got up and ate the duck.
