Long ago the people made their own clothes from flax.it was very tedious work but the material was very serviceable and strong.First of all the farmer ploughed and harrowed his garden in the month of April,then he sowed the seed and left it to grow.
When Autumn came the flax was ripe ,the stalk was between two and a half and three feet high and it was of a bluish colour .It was pulled and tied into sheaves(continues on next page)
