  2. Long ago there was no white flour used in making bread. The old people used oaten flour which they ground in querns or sometimes in mills.
    The quern was composed of two larger pieces of limestone with a handle on one of them. Then when the corn was ground they winnowed it, in a cart of sieve which separated the corn from the chaff. They used to bake the
