    Maquire were also wounded.
    This trouble was caused by the Sergeant of the R.I.C. Sergeant Hamson.
    It happened that there was an ambush at Rineen.
    The British soldiers were at Barracks all over the country, the people of Miltown Malbay were waiting all the evening and at 11 o'clock the people heard the soldiers coming so they went to the back of the house and all the night stayed in the yard while the burning was going on.
    They were all terrified at the jeering of the crowd and the ashes of the burning was like mist in the air.
    Towards morning it ceased and the people went to the country about 8 o'clock next morning when
