- In the olden times shoes were very seldom worn, all the people used to go barefooted except when they came to town.The people used never start wearing boots until they were over twenty years.The children nowadays are different because they wear shoes every day except sometimes the country children go barefooted in Summer.There were very few shoemakers in this parish in the olden times but there are alot of shoemakers around now.There were a great many superstitions long ago about water in which feet were washed.
