Churning In the olden times the old people used to lock the cow house door May Night so that any person would not be able to milk the cows or bring the butter. Some people used to rub manure to the cow's teats and they would know then if any person milked them. Other people when they got to make the butter they cannot make it because other people might have it gone.- Collector
