- The road leading to the strand at Seafield to the west of Quilty is called Bóthar na gCros".Naomh Sheanáin built a small church in Oileán na gCaorach and the people were buried there before Kilmurry Church was built. In the year 804 a great storm washed away the neck of land joining Oileán na gCaorach to the mainland, but the dead continued to be buried there. In stormy weather when the remains could not be taken by boat they were buried in the sand on the mainland. And a wooden cross was put standing over each grave to mark the spot. Several crosses stood there at the same time, and that is the reason the place was called "Bárr na gCros"Brighid Ní Connagáin
