- (continued from previous page)up and tie it into sheaves again. They bring it hime then and make a stack of it until it is well dried. In winter they bring it into the barns and pound it with bittles until they have it broken. They then catch a thaw of it and make it into a plat, then all the girls and boys used gather and clove it in one house and they would have a party and they would hold on closing it for a week if they had a lot to clove. When they finished closing it they would start hackling it across a board with nails stuck on it and draw across it. Then it is spun on the linen wheel and it is taken out of the spindle it is put on a hand reel and washed. Then it is put on a winding blade and made into balls and warped. It is then sent to the weaver to be woven into cloth.
