  1. A Drogheda teacher beat one of his pupils one day. The boy did not know his lesson. The boy's father attacked the teacher. The father had a magic wand and turned the master into a black pig. The father also turned the pupils into dogs to hunt the master. The hunt began. The dogs hunted the master and drove him to Mayne, Clogherhead. They killed him and threw stones in the place where he fell mortally wounded. A mound grew over the place where he fell. The district around was called Maine na Muice ever since.
