  1. Here is a fairy story that I heard from an old man last night. He was telling me all about them, and what they wear. He said that they wore a red cap and a red jacket, and that they were funny creatures, and he also said they they ride on bulterons in the fields. They live in forts and they are very great musicians for they can play lovely music with an ivy leaf. They used to play tricks on the people long ago, for they could exchange children and leave a poor crying child in its place. One night there was an old shoemakes named Paddy Livens of Mylestown he was going over the Walshestown road and as he went over a bit, he heard lovely music and dancing, and he hurried to get over to see the dance. They went on and on another bit and according as they went on they would let a shout and this is what they would say wait for the shoemaker. He went on and on after the
