  1. To play "the wind & the wind" a number of children join hands and sing:-
"The wind, & the wind and the wind blew high
And the snow came scattering from the sky.
Here is Dorothy Emerson (or any name) & she said she would die
If she didn't get the fellow with the rosy eye.
He is handsome, he is the boy from Drogheda city
It is counting one, two three
Will you please come & tell me who is he?"
Suppose Dorothy said "Water Scorise" then the girls & boys would sing:-
"He knocks at the door & picks up a pin
And he says Mrs Emerson is your daughter in?
She is neither in nor she is neither out
She is up in the parlour walking about."
Here she comes all dressed in white with a flower in her hair and a can of milk in her hand.
"Ah" says Dorothy "I would rather have a kiss"
"Ah" says Walter "I would rather have a drink"
Then they start the game again with everyone gets a chance.
