- Our ancestors were able to make many different kinds of bread such as oaten break, levened bread, potatoe cake, and slim bread.
Oaten bread was made from oaten meal, milk, salt and a little sugar.
When kneaded well it was put standing on a gridiron in front of the fire until baked well.
