  1. One night there was a man going along a road near Drogheda. On this road was a large tree beside a gate in a field.
    The man was drunk and he lay down at the bottom of the tree and fell asleep. He slept there for a long time. When he woke up he saw a ring of fairies around him. Some playing football and the rest dancing round him. They spoke to him, and he spoke gently to them.
    The Fairy Queen spoke and said, "For you being so gentle I will take the hump off
