winter & fine weather in Summer. When the Dublin Mountains and the hill o' Railthog appear near rain is coming. (Hill o' Railthog is between Kentstown and Balrath). Will o' the wisp (dust blowing on the roads) means rain. Spiders grow noisy when rain is coming. The crickets sings sharply. Cockroaches move around. Midgets "go mad" in Summer for rain. When smoke goes up straight fine weather is ahead. Soot falling is a sign of rain.

Micky Melia, now dead, of Cabra, Tara lifted a stone in Skryne churchyard weighing 6 cwt. All the strong men of Meath including Thomas Reid of Garlow Cross Navan who was famous for running & sledge-throwing tried it but couldn't lift it.
