    As I saw them first I claimed them as mine. I put the lot into my empty can and delighted with the find we continued homeward. Not long afterwards we met the same lad that we had met on our way going. We showed him our mushrooms and told him where we had found them. He told us that we should not have taken them, that we would become covered with warts, as the person who left them there had done so to get rid of his warts. The person finding the mushrooms also finding the warts.
    As he said as it happened. My feet became covered with warts, the soles of my feet. I was in a bad way with them.
    My Godmother, an old fashioned woman, told me how to cure the warts. This is what I did. I made a little bag and into this I placed a little pebble for every wart as far as I could count them. I dropped the bag at a crossroads (where it was
