Like days from angel eyes divine
Then may we see the starries shine,
And crested Luna's silver train
Come trailing o'er the blue domain,
And shimmer on some ancient dome
That points the path away to home.
And sweet it is just then to stray,
When Zephyrs toss the hazel spray,
And true love tell in tender tone
To one whose heart is virtue's throne.
When toil was done, by beauteous Frayne
Thus musing wandered Con O'Shane,
One evening when dropped crystal dew
From skies of purple, gold and blue.
Where lingering longer to delay
Erewhile seemed the bright god of day,
Till in resplendent glory drest
He sank to clasp th' unfettered West,
That land of thine for Freedom won,
Eternal, peerless Washington III
And strayed he by the sighing grove,
Intent to meet his rural love,
Right well the pathway did he know,
Nor heard he she'd some other go.
Soon bounding lightly o'er the lea,
