    a bit smaller than the Robins.
    The hole in the Wren's nest is on the bottom and she lays about fourteen eggs. The Wren is a very small bird.
    The Crow and Pigeon build their nests high up in a tree and lay four or five eggs. They build a large nest.
    The Swallow builds his nest of muck and pieces of straw and lines it with small feathers. He builds it in a hay-shed, barn, or under the gutter of a roof.
    The Jackdaw's nest is built in an unused chimney, which makes him a general nuisance to the occupants of the house.
    Peope warn boys against robbing nests by telling them that the Civic Guards will punish them and that it is a sin to rob a bird's nest.
    The weather can be judged by the birds. When the Swallows fly very low it will rain. When a big crowd of birds fly across the sky three will be storms and there are other signs also.
