- In the year 1921, Nevinstown about one mile from Navan on the Carlanstown Road a boy named Patrick Henry, who was working for Mr. Patrick Finnegan, Navan, sinking a drain on his land struck his spade into a crock which was buried about two feet deep. The crock was full of silver coins dated 1600. They were mostly coins about the size of a half crown, but rather lighter, and were not perfectly round. The boy went at once and told his master who got a cart and brought the money home to Navan. He refused to five anything to the boy who then went and told the Black-and-Tans. They took possession of the money and sent it to Dublin Castle. The boy received from the Castle £1 for his honesty.(continues on next page)
