- The people liked to begin the spring ploughing on a Friday. They planted an "early pot" on Friday. They began the sowing of oats on the same day and they liked to put in the first pieces of furniture on a Friday when flitting. Potatoes were not planted until after St. Patrick's Day except for a little "gallyog" put in on the 16th March called "Patricks pot".
