    21. It is a sign of rain to see cattle huddled in a corner of a field not eating.
    22. When a cow is seen lying down complacently chewing the cud in the rain it is a sign that the rain is going to last.
    23. When soot falls down the chimney on to the hearth it shows there is rain coming.
    24. It is a sign of good weather to see smoke going up very straight from chimneys.
    25. "Wet on Friday, wet on Sunday".
    26. Rain may be expected when sounds e.g. of a train, or a church bell, carry for long distance.
    27. When seagulls are seen far inland there will be storms.
    28. The oak, before the ash
    There'll only be a splash;
    The ash before the oak
    There's sure to be a soak.
    29. When you see crows soaring high in the sky it is a sign of bad weather.
