- There is an old Lime kiln in Ballincleva about one mile from moynalty in County Meath. It was about sixty years ago when the Lime kiln was in working order and about twelve men worked in this Lime kiln. It was a round building made of stone and mortar and lined inside with bricks. The fuel burned was turf. The men would filled the Lime kiln with every second lair of lime stone and turf. Then they lit the kiln with a tar stick. It took about a week to burn the Lime in the kiln. When the lime was burned it fell out on a hole in the side of the lime kiln. The men would get got the lime in a quarry near by. Lime was burned long ago for top dressing the land and for building purposes. This Lime kiln was burning for about six years. The nearest lime kiln that is now working is in maperath about three miles from the village of moynalty. It was owned by Mr. Archdall but now it is worked by the Government.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
