    she cast a curse over them, that their names would be wiped off the face of the earth.
    She said in her tears that a leaf would never grow on that tree again, the sun would never shine in at the hall door, a crow would never build her nest on the big high trees, and the lark was never to be heard singing. The ash tree that he was hung on can be seen to this day and when every other tree is blowing out beautifully it is standing up without a leaf.
    On that day every year people used to go to walk round the place where the boy was hung, and from then it was counted a very unlucky day.
