  2. The following are the customs observed in this district, relating to the various feasts of the year.
    During the period from January 6th to Ash Wednesday match making is carried on.
    Rush crosses, known as St. Brigid crosses, are hung up over the door on St. Brigid's Day - Feb 1st.
    On Shrove Tuesday evening, pancakes are made in most houses.
    On Palm Sunday during the reading of the passion, if a person never moves his legs, but stands still, a soul is exempt from Purgatory.
    It is considered lucky to find a four-leafed-shamrock on St. Patrick's Day.
    The sun is said to dance on Easter
