Girls wash their faces in the dew on May morning for luck:-
    The Rhyme says:-
"A fair young maid on the First of May,
Who goes to the fields at the break of day,
And washes in dew by the hawthorn tree,
Will always gay and happy be."
If you draw water from a spring well on May morning and put it away in a crock it will be just the same on the following May morning.
If some of it is put in the cream when churning you will have far more butter.
