Nuts are burned (but if scarce wheat is used instead). The name of a boy and girl are put on nuts. These are placed on the range or the bar of a grate. If the burn out without moving the pair will be married, if one or both jump they will not marry.
The game with the three saucers is played.
On the saucers are water, clay and a ring. Each one is blindfolded in turn and walked towards the table with outstretched hand. If she puts her hand in the water she will cross the sea; if in the clay, she will die; and if on the ring she will marry.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
