- Bread was made out of both oats and wheat which were grown locally in olden times. There was a flour mill at Clara and the farmers used to bring their wheat there to get it made into flour. Some people made wheaten meal with the querns. They put the wheat between two stones and twisted the upper stone. It was through a hole in the upper stone that they put in the wheat. When they had it ground they put it through a sieve.(continues on next page)
