- (continued from previous page)field. In knockadoon there is another fort in a field belonging to Daniel Corrigan. The fairies are supposed to live in these forts and the owners of the land where these forts are never interfere with them when ploughing or planting crops, as they consider it unlucky. People say if you went into the field in which one of these forts is situated, at night, you would go astray and unless you had the presence of mind to turn your coat inside out you would be going through the field the whole night.
About a mile and a half from Carpenterstown school in the district of Annagh there is a fort in Cooke's field. There is a circular path in the middle of the fort and it is said, any animal that crosses this path into the circle dies instantly. If you hit the surface of the fort it has a hallow sound.- Collector
