card-board, and making the figure of a cross in the centre with green ribbon and decorating it round about with coloured ribbon. It is made for St. Patrick's Day, and is kept until the following year. St. Brigid's Cross is made for St. Brigid's Day. It is made with rushes woven together in the form of a cross, and tied at the four corners with thread. It is made for 1st February and is burned when the feast comes again.
At Christmas holly with or without berries is put up around the house or dresser behind pictures. It is left until after the Twelvth Day, and some people leave it up until Shrove Tuesday and burn it under the Pancakes. On May Day a bush is got and flowers are tied on it, because it is the first day of Summer.
