    This game is usually played by the boys. They get a fairly strong lath and put it between the laths of a gate. Then they divide the boys into two equal groups. They seat themselves on each side of the lath. In doing so they sign this rhyme.

    Hurry the Brog
    Hurry the Brog is a game played at wakes. A whole ring of boys would get round the fire. Then one boy in the centre would stand up. Then first boy in the ring would have a log rope with a large knot on the end of it. Then they all turn their feet in a bunch together. The first boy passes the rope on to the next boy and the next boy passes it on to the next and so on. The boy standing would not know what boy had the rope. Then he would
