- Threshing Operations The threshing engine comes annually to the district to perform the threshing operations. When the farmers hear of its arrival they work hard and constantly to have the corn in ready for it. The thresher stays in the district until all the corn is threshed, which occupies on month. A number of men gather to give a helping hand. Two men stand on the mill cutting bands, there is another man throwing the sheaves into the mill. There is also a man carrying the bags of corn into the barn.
Long ago the threshing was done with the flail or a "horse power".
