  1. It is an old custom that people will not work on St. Patrick's day to do any ploughing. It is a rule with a lot of people to begin their ploughing on a Friday.
    People will not move from one house to another on a Sat. It is a old proverb Sat filtting makes a short sitting.
    The 1st May a number of people will not give a drop of milk or a coal for your pipe.
    The first three days of April are cold and people call them barrowed days because it is said that March barrowed them from April to skin the old cow.
    My father told me this.
