At last he reached the mountains, and he was not very long there until a little man came up to him. He told him that he was a brave boy to venture to the mountains and save all his cattle, but Jack told him he had to do so.
The little man asked Jack for some food, because he was hungry. Jack then gave him all he had in his basket, and the little man told him that he would have luck in spite of his wicket father. He disappeared, and Jack gathered up his flock for home again.
