- There is a road called "The Ladies Road" in Smear County Longford. It was made by Lady Ross in 1790. It was a very backward townland. There are about forty families living each side of the road. It is about one mile and a half long and leading to a bog. It is a very hilly road. There are twelve passes on the south side of the road. It is rough and bad. It is repaired by the County Council. There are high ditches along some parts of the road and there is a bog each side of it. Motors and lorries go on it. It is a very narrow road. The road is about fourteen feet wide in places.
