  1. (continued from previous page)
By the goat thats no more, By Lough Erin's shore
By the lake of Kilmore where the wild ducks do float
By the cock and the hen, By Robin Hood's men
I never did pen a verse on the Goat.
By John Short the Jailer, By Mick Smith the tailor
By Fairly the nailer thats as black as my shoe
By war and by peace, by the Ethergole chase
By the far renowned race where ribbonmen flew.
By the lily and rose, By the bucks & the does
By Jemmy Shorts nose that is six inches long
By the Black and the blue, by the thyme & the rue
I never knew who, made that scandalous song.
By the bright morning star, by the wounded Hussar
By old Robin Carr that goes moping about
By fountains and rills, By mountains and hills
By tall Patty Mills that is valiant and stout.
By lions and bears by hounds and by hares
By apples and pears, by the song that was wrote
I could swear by all those, that I ne'er did compose
Metre, blank verse or prose, on the death of the Goat.
