- At home we have horses, cows, pigs, sheep and goats.
Cows are tied by passing a chain round the neck and fastening it to an upright. Two large stakes of wood or iron are fastened by a chain on top of one bail, being at each side of the cows neck. The cow house is called a byre.
A cow is driven by different exclamations, such as "whey ho chew on".
When calling chickens or hens we say "chuck - chuck".
Pigs are called by shouting "jock - jock".
My father calls the horses in saying " cop - cop".
When my mother wants the turkeys she calls "pee - pee".- Collector
