“Song written by Walter Mc Cormack about eighty years ago...”
Song written by Walter McCormack about eighty years ago when twelve youths were leaving for Buenos Aires.
It being the twelfth of April
In the year of forty four
In blooming Spring when birds do sing all round sweet Erins shore
The feathered train in concert tune
Their tuneful notes display
Sounding their acclamation which echoed through Kilrane.
Twelve matchless youths they did approach
In splendour did appear
Leaving farewell with all their friends likewise their parents dear
As usual to their bosom flew
Some mirth for to display
They cried "Adieu" God be with you

To leave your own dear native latnd
