Once on St. Martin's eve, some Wexford fishermen went to fish, and they were drowned, only a few of them survived, and those who did said that they saw a rider on a white horse warning them to go back to land. This was a warning to men not to go fish on St. Martin's eve.On the first of May a bush by the road-side is decorated with coloured candles. This is called the "May Bush." When they burn down the bush is set onfire.
