It happened that before the week was out the carpenter died. One night the farmer heard some hammering and in the morning he was surprised to see a part of his shed roofed. For three mornings the hammering went on. On the third morning when the farmer went out he saw his shed roofed.
The farmer now remembered the carpenter's words "dead or alive" this day week your house shall be roofed. - Once upon a time a poor man was working with a farmer. When they had finished their dinner the poor man asked the woman for more turnips. "Begor John" she said, "the bull will be bawling in you to-night."(continues on next page)
