- In 1911 there was a heavy thunder-storm which occured in the month of August. Mr. Edward O Dowd Ballincash, Ferns Co. Wexford was harvesting when the storm came. He and his workman were going home and O Dowd said he would go back and shut the gate. He did so and the workman proceeded on.
When O Dowd was not coming back the workman went in search of him, and found him dead as the lightning had struck him while he was shutting the gate. This man was a brother to the Rev. Father O Dowd Enniscorthy.- Collector
