    was half-mile champion of Leinster, and also ran a hundred yards in ten seconds.
    Dan Murphy another famous athlete walked from New Ross to Fethard-on-Sea in two hours.
    3. Thomas Hogan formerly of New Ross won the rowing chamionship in England.
    4. William and John Nolan
    who lived in the Irishtown
    used to walk to the fairs which were sometimes forty miles away.
    5. Arthur Connick was a great runner, he often ran one hundred
    miles in one minute.
