  1. Local Cures.
    Heartburn: Drink a cup of cold water containing a spoonful of bread soda.
    Whitlow, Bathe in water in which potatoes have been boiled.
    Chillblains. Pennyleaves and fresh lard.
    Sprain apply a plaster made from confry and white of egg.
    Burn or scald. An application of breadsoda prevents blisters.
    Earache. Heated oil should be poured into the ear.
    Erysiphelas. Miss Kehoe, Lacken, New Ross makes an ointment to cure this disease. It is made from old bones, rust of iron. lard soot and certain plants.
    Pain in the back. Ivy leaf is good for a pain in the back.
    Boiled marsh mallows and comfry
    A cure for burn or scald is made from linseed oil whit of egg lime-water
