- The herbs found in this district are thistles, docks, preshaugh, ragweed, Lamb's quarter, plantain, couch grass, and robin-run-the-hedge. Most of these spread rapidly. When thistles are found it is a sign that the land is good. Docks and ragweed grow in every kind of land. Preshaugh and Lamb's Quarter grow on tilled land. On poor land we find couch grass.
Docks are used to cure a nettle sting. Plantain is used in the making of some ointment. People chop up nettles and use them for feeding young turkeys
