- The fairs are held in Tullamore and in Kilcormac. Sometimes the buyers go out to the houses to buy the cattle the evening before the fair. The fair is held in the streets. There is no toll paid on cattle sold. When animals are sold there is luck money given. There is five shillings given ass luck money on cattle. There is one shilling given on pigs. There are two shillings given on sheep. When the bargain is made the man that owns the animal say a certain sum of money such as five pound well he might say alright. Then they finish the bargain by clapping hands and also by spitting on the animal. Some of the animals are marked with reddle, on the back. The pigs are marked with grease on the back. When the animal is sold; the halter is given to the buyer.
