- Cures.A person whose father's and mother's names are Welsh is said to have a cure for wildfire. If a drop of his blood is rubbed round the sore spot, it cures it.
The blood of a black cat is also a cure for wildfire.
If a person is suffering from mumps, and gets a donkeys bridle, and puts it on him, and if he gets somebody else to lead him across a stream, he will be cured of the mumps.
If a child has the whooping cough and the god-mother of that child ties a red ribbon around the childs neck, it will cure the cough.
Anther cure for the whooping cough is for the person who is afflicted with it, to pass out under a black ass three times.
If a woman who is married to a man of the same name as herself can give a piece of bread and butter of her own will to the sick child it will cure that child.(continues on next page)
