29/1/37Saint Rynagh is our local patron Saint. She was the sister of Saint Finnian of Clonard. It was Saint Finnian who taught the twelve apostles of Ireland and his school was one of the most famous of it's time in Ireland. Saint Rynagh was born sometime about the sixth century. She was born in the province of Leinster. Banagher and Cloghan are called the parish of Gallen and Rynagh. The Banagher end of the parish is called after Saint Rynagh and the Cloghan end is called Gallen after Saint Canoc. The church and the convent in Banagher are called after Saint Rynagh.
