The castle is said to have contained a Heath trap. Folklore says that the owner of the castle used to take his visitors up to the roof of the castle to show them either a beautiful lake or an artificial flower garden. At the top there was a trap door which opened at the slightest provocation. When the door closed after the person crooks were set to work by turning a handle which tore the victim to pieces. Any valuables he possessed would fall down to a lower room. His remains would be passed from crook to crook until they reached an underground dungeon.
