- Local HappeningsMany years ago three little children were burn to death by accident a little distance from this village. A fire broke out in their home while their father and mother were absent. The little children were in bed and the door was locked when the house went on fire and they were suffocated with the smoke. Their mother had locked the door while she went to the village for messages. When she returned the house was in flames and the children were dead. The ruins of the house are there still. Ever since this sad happening the villagers of Kinnitty called it "The field of the burnt house". The house was built in a field in the townland of Lismooney and the Barony of Ballybritt.
