  1. The folktale as follows was related to the pupils in Newtown N.S. by a senior standard boy named Andrew Byrne, Ballydarton, Fenagh, Bagnalstown, Co. Carlow. About a mile and a half from our school of Newtwon there is a town'sland called Ballydarton. In olden times the most of this town'sland was owned by a family called the "Watsons". At the back of the house in which this family resided there is a large field locally known in the district as "the Pleasure Ground". The members of this Watson family were famous huntsmen, and polo players. In the "Pleasure Ground" ther were some famous games of polo played in the old days, and in these games members of the Watson family were also prominent. It happened that one evening a great game was being played, and one of the Watsons were galloping madly after the
