- Many signs of the weather can be had by looking at certain things. For instance when the wind blows from the south it is the sign of rain while the north generally brings snow.
When the smoke from a chimeny blows down towards the ground it is the sign of rainy and windy weather.
When the sea-gulls and other seabirds come inland, it is the sign of a coming storm and rain.
